Berkumpul, Berkarya, dan Berjejaring di Tenggara
Tahun 2020 ini, Tenggara Street Art Festival membuka peluang untuk para street artist untuk terlibat dalam festival ini. Para seniman dari berbagai kota diundang untuk mengisi sesi ini melalui skema panggilan terbuka dan kurasi. Pendaftaran terbuka untuk setiap street artsit, baik itu mural, stensil, bom benang, wheatpaste, dan medium baru yang relevan dalam konteks street art sekalipun. Dari 85 peserta yang mendaftar panyelenggara menerima 47 peserta untuk terlibat dalam sesi ini. Tim kurasi berfokus untuk menemukan street artist muda yang potensial dan memiliki cara pandang yang menarik dalam merespon konteks ruang dan waktu. Para peserta yang lolos merupakan kelompok dan individu, mendapatkan fasilitas dinding, cat, akses area kemah, makan, dan kebutuhan protokol kesehatan Covid-19.
Para peserta lolos berasal dari berbagai kota, seperti Depok, Bengkulu, Jambi, Medan, dan Sumatera Barat. Peserta juga mengikuti sesi techincal meeting secara online dan diskusi terkait capaian program. Jamming Session berlangsung pada tanggal 26-28 November 2020. Mereka disebar di delapan titik, dengan maksimal satu titik sebanyak 10 orang dan mematuhi protokol kesehatan.
Walau di tengah musim hujan para peserta dapat menyelesaikan karya-karyanya. Selama berproses para peserta juga bekomunikasi dengan warga sekitar, dan tidak sedikit yang mendapat hadiah-hadiah kecil dari warga, seperti makanan, kopi, dan sebagainya. Beberapa peserta juga mengisi beberapa dinding kosong lainnya atas permintaan warga. Selain itu, para peserta juga memiliki kesempatan untuk berdiskusi dengan seniman-seniman pilihan yang terlibat dalam residensi ataupun sesama peserta Jamming Session di lokasi kemah. Berbagi pengalaman dan mengembangkan jaringan.

This year, Tenggara Street Art Festival opened the opportunity for young street artists to be involved in this festival. Participant artists from many cities were invited to join this session through open calls and curation process. This call is open for every young artist that works in any medium, such as mural stencil, yarn bombing, wheatpaste, and even the new mediums that are relevant in the context of street art. From 85 registrant we only accepted 47 registrants to join this session. Our curation team focused to find potential young street artists that have an interesting point of view to respond to the context of space and time here. Every participant, both individuals and group, received some facilities, such as a wall, paints, access to the camp area, food, and Covid-19 health protocol needs.
Participants came from many cities like Depok, Bengkulu, Jambi, Medan, and West Sumatra, Participants also joined the technical meeting by online and discussed the program’s vision. Jamming Session happened on November 26-28, 2020. They spread out in eight places, in every place there were 10 people and we followed the Covid-19 health protocol.
Even though it was the rainy season, the participants were able to finish their works. During the process, they also communicated with the citizens around, and most of them get some presents from the people, such as food, coffees, and etc. Some of them also painted other clean walls because local people asked them. Moreover, the participants had many chances of sharing and discussing with other artists who were also invited for residences, or with other participants in the camping ground.
